21 October 2024 - Sardinia Innovative Boat Week highlighted the fusion of sports, sustainability, and cutting-edge innovation. This distinctive event welcomed technicians, adventurers, and visionary minds from across Europe, inviting hundreds of international students and researchers to test their creativity, knowledge, and dedication in an impactful, competitive arena.
Held in Olbia from October 15 to 20, the inaugural Sardinia Innovative Boat Week gathered teams worldwide, including the Italian Physis PEB student team, whose prototype, Ione3.0, excelled in energy efficiency. Originally designed as a hydrogen-powered electric catamaran, Ione3.0 was adapted to a fully battery-powered configuration for the event, achieving fourth place overall and winning recognition as the most energy-efficient boat in its category.
In the event's final straight-line speed race, the Physis PEB team leveraged the opportunity to experiment, testing a new pulling configuration for their motor. This innovative configuration, enabled improved the boat’s agility, offering valuable insights for future developments despite minor stability trade-offs in straight-line performance.
We are proud of the Physis PEB Team's achievements, which reflect both their innovative spirit and the high performance of evoTractionBatteries in sustainable marine applications.
