Quiet Energy for Nighttime Work on Rail Infrastructure

Mobile battery power supply in rail operations

During a nighttime bridge inspection, all electrically operated inspection vehicles were powered solely by ecoPowerTrolleys. Two ecoPowerTrolleys supplied 400 V three-phase power, each serving one inspection vehicle. Each vehicle’s electric drive and work lighting were powered. Up to five 35-watt work lights per vehicle ran directly from the ecoPowerTrolley, eliminating the need for additional generators or structural changes to the equipment.

Performance data during operation under full load

The deployment was part of a nighttime inspection under active rail traffic. Bridge inspection vehicles transported a total weight of roughly four tonnes, comprising the vehicle, materials, a maximum payload of 1,000 kg, and operating personnel. The vehicles covered about 70 metres each way at approximately 12 metres per minute.

Even on slight gradients and under maximum load, operation remained stable at all times and with sufficient power reserve. The ecoPowerTrolley operated silently, emission-free, and without any additional modifications to the machines. The decisive factor was not the maximum available output, but a reliable and continuous power supply throughout the entire operation.

Operational reliability during track closures

A key factor in the operation's success was its strong operational reliability. All work proceeded uninterrupted, quietly, and emission-free throughout the full track closure. In the rail environment, where alternative time slots are unavailable, the mobile battery power supply was crucial to maintaining the strict schedule. «Worked perfectly, and we were very satisfied with the device's performance. Even under full load, there were no issues and above all, no noise.»
